- 1. What is a Nostepinne & how do I use one?
-
“Nostepinne” or “nostepinde” is a Scandinavian word that means “nest-stick.” It is a tool used to wind a center-pull yarn ball. A nostepinne is portable, easy to use, and creates a center-pull ball that can be used
without changing the twist in the yarn.the Memphis Fiber Arts guild as a great one page .pdf handout on how to use a Nostepinne. CLICK HERE to download it.

- 2. What is a Diz and how do I use one?
-
A diz is usually a curved, oval shaped disk with a hole or holes in or around the center of it. Prepared fiber, carded or combed, is pulled thru a hole, an inch or two at a time, to make a fairly consistently drafted sliver. Draft the sliver again, by hand, to make it longer and thinner. Then spin. Dizzing really makes a big difference in spinning a uniform yarn!
